“Lips without lipstick is like cake without frosting”
Have you heard that quote before? Yeah putting on lipstick has been a necessity for me 😛
Hey guys & dolls! Welcome to my blog.
Today I’m gonna be reviewing the famous Silkygirl Matte Junkie Liquid Lipstick.
Recently, a lot of brands are coming out with liquid lipstick. Malaysia’s Top Drugstore brand, Silkygirl is among the first to introduce their own liquid lipstick range available on selected pharmacies like Guardian & Watsons. Initially, they released about 5 shades – Glamour, Retro, Vixen, Vintage & Rebel and they sold out like goreng pisang. About a month ago, Silkygirl introduced another 4 new shades – Darling, Artsy, Rouge & Dolly.
So.. without any further due, let’s get into it
Here’s the product description I’ve taken from Silkygirl’s website
“This kiss proof and transfer resistant lipcolor applies like a liquid lipstick that dries to a matte finish. It stays on your lips through day and night activities requiring minimal touch-ups.”
– Retails at RM 27
– Fragrance free
– Carmine free
– Paraben free
– Not tested on animals
First, let’s talk about the packaging. It is in round plastic tube, its size makes it easy to fit in my makeup bag/handbag. It has a defined lipstick wand so it’s convenient for us all to apply the lip color precisely on our lips. The formula itself is so lightweight and it doesn’t crumble on the lips even after eating. I really like the texture, it’s creamy when you first apply it. Seconds after that, they’ll dry down to matte finish and become transfer proof! It’s not really drying but if you have chappy and dry lips, you might want to use lip balm beforehand. I swear, the matte junkies formula is comparable to Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. Bear in mind, the color is not really opaque. I layer it twice to get a fuller lips (applied in generous amount).
I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I noticed a slight difference between the old and new Matte Junkie. The new one feels a little bit more drying on lips, but that is not really a big deal for me because I’m a ‘matte junkie’ 😛
I’ve gotten five from Matte Junkie range – Glamour, Vintage, Retro, Darling, Artsy and I personally like all of them. Looking forward to more new shades!
Here’s the lip swatches of my collection (excuse my poyo-ness)
p/s : Use oil based make up remover to ease the removal process! 🙂
